At the MLK Community Coalition, we believe that a community thrives when its physical environment reflects the dignity, beauty, and potential of the people who live there. Guided by our motto, "Empowering Communities for Change," we are actively working to transform Rosemoor and its surrounding neighborhoods into vibrant, prosperous spaces that honor the enduring legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.Our mission goes beyond basic upkeep—it is about deep renewal. By improving the visual appearance of our streets, creating green spaces, fostering urban beautification, and driving local economic growth, we are elevating the entire human experience for our residents, families, and businesses.
Turning the Vision Into Reality
Following the successful 2014 dedication of the bridge over the Bishop Ford Expressway, our goals have graduated into an ambitious community project. Your support directly funds the development of:
- The MLK Brick Memorial: A permanent, historic landmark honoring the civil rights leader and the local history of the movement.
- 12 Living Gardens: A transformation spanning 100th Street, from Michigan to Dauphin, replacing empty stretches with lush native plant life, vibrant flowers, and community cultivation spaces.
- Economic & Social Renewal: Cultivating a beautiful, walkable neighborhood that naturally attracts local businesses, shoppers, and safe multi-generational gathering spaces.
